Reviews and Praise for See a Little Light: A Celebration of the Music and Legacy of Bob Mould
"Around 9:30 Monday night at Disney Hall, toward the end of a round-table concert celebrating the music of Bob Mould, Foo Fighters' frontman Dave Grohl did what he does better than just about anyone in rock music today. He got behind a drum set and absolutely murdered a song.
The tune was Husker Du's 'New Day Rising,' a punishing one-two punk gallop from 1985 with the title as a repeated mantra that everything will someday get better. It was probably the loudest thing ever played at Disney Hall, and Grohl's muppety ferociousness got the room to its feet."

"Near the end of a bristling, two-hour tribute in his honor at the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Bob Mould took the stage to note the irony of his life and music. 'I'm sort of speechless,' he said last night, following performances by Dave Grohl, Ryan Adams, No Age and many others."

"You know how these lovefest all-star tributes to our legend-looming creative artists can get a bit treacly? This one, entitled 'See a Little Light: A Celebration of the Music and Legacy of Bob Mould,' wasn't, though the prevailing down-to-earthness meant there was little in the way of high drama, either. But that's maybe fitting, as ex-Husker Du/Sugar mainman Mould represents the triumph of the hardworking regular joe with a few things on his mind."
Read the rest from LA Weekly
"If Husker Du or Sugar were before your time, do yourself a favor and dig up their old catalogs. Both venerable bands were fronted by Bob Mould, and an all-star assortment of music luminaries assembled to celebrate the music and legacy of Mould's vast catalog at the Walt Disney Concert Hall."
Read the rest at Stereogum
"Last night at Los Angeles' Walt Disney Concert Hall, former Husker Du and Sugar frontman Bob Mould was honored with a star-studded tribute concert. Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, Ryan Adams, Spoon's Britt Daniel, The Hold Steady's Craig Finn, and No Age were among the acts who took part, performing songs from Mould's entire discography, including Husker Du, Sugar, and Mould's own solo material."

"Bob Mould and Dave Grohl jammed out three Mould-penned songs last night at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, in a show that also featured No Age, Britt Daniel, Ryan Adams, The Hold Steady, and many more."

"Though he reportedly expressed some humble resistance to the tribute because 'he's not even dead yet,' Husker Du and Sugar frontman Bob Mould took part in an all-star tribute to his songwriting and legacy last night at L.A.'s Disney Hall, where he was joined by Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, Spoon's Britt Daniel, the Hold Steady's Craig Finn, Ryan Adams, No Age, Margaret Cho, and many more."

"Husker Du and Sugar frontman Bob Mould has a new memoir, 'See a Little Light: The Trail of Rage and Melody,' out. It's a reflective and deeply felt tale from the frontlines of America's second wave of punk and Mould's own late-in-life struggles in coming to terms with his homosexuality.

...See a Little Light isn't typical at all. Most centrally, it's an audacious and moving account of Mr. Mould's coming of age...
-The New York Times
For someone whose music is so impassioned, Mould relays [his life] with surprising reserve. His prose is straightforward, the voice informal, without flourishes...
-LA Times
Whether it's his unexpected and hilarious left turn to scriptwriting for professional wrestling, his busy career as one half of the DJ team Blowoff, or his hesitant and ultimately affirming embrace of mainstream gay culture, Mould never fails to captivate and inspire.

Life And Times
2009 marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Workbook, and also the release of Bob Mould's latest album, Life And Times, set for an April 7th street date. Produced and mixed by Mould in his current hometown of Washington D.C., the album is filled with Mould's experiences in relation to friends, lovers, the world at large and himself. It is honest and personal, his voice breaking on "Bad Blood Better," the electronic twitches of earlier work reappearing under signature blazing guitars on "MM17." Mould appraises the perils of easy self-distraction on "Wasted World" and is not afraid to get explicit on "Argos." The emotional and musical centerpiece of the record, "I'm Sorry Baby, But You Can't Stand In My Light Anymore," is an unflinching look at the sorrow and regret that comes at the end of love. The full tracklisting:
1. Life And Times
2. The Breach
3. City Lights (Days Go By)
4. MM 17
5. Argos
6. Bad Blood Better
7. Wasted World
8. Spiraling Down

Bob Mould to publish his autobiography
Michael Pietsch, Publisher of Little, Brown and Company, announced today that Bob Mould will be writing his autobiography in collaboration with Michael Azerrad, author of the bestselling Our Band Could Be Your Life and Come As You Are: The Story of Nirvana.
The memoir will, for the first time ever, delve deeply into Mould's life as a musician and his experiences with Hüsker Dü, as a solo artist, and in his most commercially viable and successful work as leader of '90s indie rock kingpins Sugar. He will also tell the story of his other lives, including his internal struggle with his sexuality, the coming-out process, and his subsequent embrace of, and service to, the LGBT community; his work as a creative consultant / director in the world of pro wrestling; his work as a record producer, including seminal projects by Soul Asylum and Magnapop; and his foray into electronic / dance music, including the popular BLOWOFF club events held nationwide.
Bob Mould said, "For many years, people have asked if and when I would write my autobiography. I have always looked forward to this point in time, where I could tell my stories, to answer the many questions about the music and the lifestyle, and how they inform the creative process. I have not been alone on this ride: friends and foes, mentors and associates, peers, lovers, all traveling by my side. The ride so far has been incredible, and I hope to do my memory right in documenting the journey."
